The Langham’s Chocolate Bar is about as close to Willy Wonka’s “world of pure imagination” as it gets (last year, they had a chocolate fountain). With over 100 chocolate-based desserts in all the colors of the rainbow, it’s a lovely (albeit spendy) place to get your Augustus Gloop on—especially since you’ll need the serotonin boost as Boston’s winter returns with a vengeance.

“Wait—doesn’t tofu just come from plastic boxes at Trader Joe’s?”

This was the response we got from several otherwise intelligent, food-literate people when we informed them that we were going to try to make tofu from scratch.

Okay, so maybe we didn’t break the bank. But, golly it would have been an easy thing to do at the swanky BOND restaurant and lounge, located in the Langham Hotel in Post Office Square– that’s in the Financial District for those of you who are unfamiliar. The grassy square itself serves as a midday oasis for many a lunching office drone desperate for an escape from over-amped AC and fluorescent lighting but, you know, sometimes a patch of grass and some sunshine just doesn’t get the job done after a hard day at the office.
