Change is afoot here at TPB. In order to not confuse anyone any further, we’ve kept our suggestions real simple this weekend– but, man, don’t they look delicious?

To put it simply, Bearstronaut is a band that will make you want to dance.

Imagine a typical Friday or Saturday night in Boston. There are probably a pile of events that you’ve said “Maybe” to on Facebook, from people that you vaguely remember friending. Sending out a mass text to your friends about what’s going on ends up with mixed results, to the tune of, “Well, I think there’s something going on at Middlesex,” or “I’m not really sure if I’m going to be at Great Scott or Rise because so-and-so said they might be here, but I also want to check out that band at Middle East, although I haven’t really heard their music.” Add the frigid temperatures of winter in Boston and the all-too-frustrating prospect of trekking on the T to vastly different corners of the city when all you really want is the the largest group of your friends possible in one place.

Together: The New England Electronic Music Festival has taken Boston by storm (even more so than this light dusting of flakes that crippled downtown) and we will honor that fact by enlisting creative director, David Day, to bring you this weekend’s to-do list.

Today marked the kick-off of the first ever Together Electronic Music Festival. We hit up the launch party to see what the organizers and participants had to say and learned that, if anything, the fest was quite aptly named– but we’ll let them tell you about it.

One of our favorite parts of each interview is when we ask bands who they are listening to. The consistent love parade that we’ve experienced in talking with local acts about other local acts gives us faith in the state of the Boston music scene, and gives us a heads up on who is making waves in the community and who we should be keeping an eye on. One such recommendation came from former-Bostonian, Brian Hamilton of Cymbals Eat Guitars, who couldn’t pour enough praise on his friends, local disco-dance revivalists Mystery Roar, when we talked with his own band on the deck outside Great Scott.
