Keeping it Local, Keeping it FRESH: Food Activists Show Us How

Relationships were key in last Wednesday’s locavore event, “Farm to Fork: A Panel Discussion About How We Get The Food We Eat.” Thoughtfully organized and moderated by FRESH’s Drew Love, the panel featured the farmer (John Lee of Allandale Farms), the chef (JJ Gonson, chef/owner of Cuisine en Locale), the grocer (Jeff Morin, owner of CityFeed and Supply) and the network (Willow Blish, co-leader of the Boston chapter of Slow Food).

Movies Are Expensive, Unless They Are Free: Our Picks

Sometimes it feels great to go to a theater– just to get out of the cold, relax, and participate in some good, clean fun. You hand over your crisp, hard-earned ten dollar bill to the kid at the ticket booth, maybe with a date on your arm (so, in that case, a crisp 20), fully expecting to get back a handful of change and a one-way ticket to movie bliss, or at least something halfway decent. Unless the movie is Avatar in 3D, in which case you actually have to pay thirteen dollars– I hope those ray-ban shaped 3D glasses come in handy for something else.

Wave At The Camera! It’s Time For Home Movie Night, December 5th

Kids hopped up on Halloween candy, teenage girls preening in one-pieces, swimming tigers seen from the monorail at the zoo, sailboats, puppies, nuns, cocktail parties and snowday igloos – an army of dads and uncles with cameras have turned these real life objects into the wonders of the world of home movies. This Saturday, December 5th is Home Movie Night at the temporary Chinatown Storefront Library, where from 6-8pm organizers will be serving up homemade slices of cinema.
