TIMELESS Series Screening Comes To Boston’s Fourth Wall Project
Many locals complain that there are not enough unique, out-of-the-box events that take place in and around the city of Boston. Whether this complaint is actually warranted or not– there are people trying to make interesting things happen. One of these people is Nu Goteh, the co-founder of JUS CUZ.
“JUS CUZ was created out of a need for more interesting and dope things going on in the city,” Goteh explains. “The meaning behind JUS CUZ is the notion of not over-thinking, analyzing everything and just enjoying it for what it is.” With the help of Mochilla and Vtech, JUS CUZ will be putting their credo to work when they host a free RSVP-only event this Tuesday April 20th at the Fouth Wall Project gallery.
The night will feature a screening of TIMELESS, a three film series that was created in homage to the composers and arrangers who have influenced hip-hop. This event will focus on the film “Suites For Ma Dukes,” which reinterpretes J Dilla’s music with a sixty piece orchestra and features artists such as Dwele, Erykah Badu, and Bilal.
“The interesting thing about the screening is that it bridges that gap between two world that don’t usually meet: Hip-hop and Classical music,” Goteh says. “Seeing a 60 piece orchestra covering one of the best producers in hip-hop is amazing and shows the power that hip-hop has. The combination of these elements are sure to yield a moment where you remember how important music is in your life.”
This screening was not orginially set to travel through Boston, but Goteh’s love for the series as well as his faith that Bostonians would appreciate the screening compelled him to make JUS CUZ happen. “I did not want this to be another instance where you see something dope online happening in another city and wonder why things like that don’t happen in Boston,” he explains.
Along with the screening, J Rocc of Stonethrow and Beat Junkies will provide music for the night. “J Rocc is the official DJ for the series. Some people might not understand it, but we are truly blessed to have J Rocc doing a set in the city of Boston,” Goteh boasts. “I could not ask for a better DJ for the screening because he has a direct connection to J Dilla as he was the third (silent) member of Jaylib.”
The event will be held at Fourth Wall Project, which Goteh describes as a “cornerstone for the Boston creative community” and “one of the only places outside of the clubs and bars that really speak to the cool, progressive and young Boston Scene.” Although the event is RSVP 21+ only, it’s free to the public, but space is limited. Check out the event’s Facebook event for all RSVP and location details.
