Dear TeaPartyBoston Fans & Followers…

20 April 2010 13 Comments

Dear TeaPartyBoston Fans and Followers,

We would be remiss to not acknowledge the issues surrounding our once-loved name. Something that at one time meant “change” in a Boston sort of way, has been adopted by a force now sweeping the country and even our own Common.

We no longer feel as if the goodwill that we have built up in our community will be enough to help us weather this storm that we are unsure will ever pass. We are tired of using a name that now carries a connotation that we did not help create. We have grown weary of following every introduction with “No, not that one.”

In order to best represent ourselves and our readership, we have decided that we have to make a change– and a big one. This decision to rename ourselves after almost a full year of operation, while it may seem obvious and necessary to some, did not come easy.

We want to thank all of you who have supported us. Everyone who urged skeptics to “just check it out,” who did take the time to explain who we are– we are forever indebted to you. When it comes down to it, our value lies in the people and places featured in our virtual pages, not what we are calling ourselves. For that, we are sincerely grateful for all of you.

We are excited to move forward without this baggage that we never packed for ourselves, and we already have a few tricks up our sleeves for the upcoming months–so stay tuned for further details.

– Jessie & Gabrielle

You guys are the best. When this unbelievable storm of mental deficiency began sweeping the lowest common denominator of the nation, I immediately went “crap, what about the website?”

Too bad you’ll have to change it, but better that than be associated with people that would consider putting Sarah Palin in an office (as opposed to a closet).

Personally, it is a bummer because they should probably change their name, seeing as they represent nothing related to revolutionary thought or moving forward. But I totally understand- much luck and ease in the name change!

That’s aweful you guys have to change your name because of the Tea Party movement and it’s growing popularity. How bout just No not that Tea Party?

When I heard about this movement coming Boston I just kept thinking “But Tea Party Boston is this cool blog… People are gonna be confused!”

If anything it’ll add traffic to the site, but maybe the wrong kind. Good luck with what you choose.
