Forest Fires play “Sad Bastard Music” with A Lot of Heart

Smokey the Bear may have engrained in your head not to promote the spread of Forest Fires, but we here at TeaParty think a bit differently. Christopher Pappas, the man we’ve come to know and love as the lead singer of the Everyday Visuals, is embarking on a series of solo projects, with his attention mostly focused on his new folk-inspired outfit Forest Fires. While it is a more laid back, reverby sound than the poppy hooks of the Everyday Visuals, Pappas produces a big sound on Hark! …And Other Lost Transmissions, Forest Fires’ first studio release.

The Apples in Stereo Hit Boston on Their Backwards Tour

Friday night the stage of the Middle East Downstairs was the site of an interstellar visit from math pop band, The Apples in Stereo. Captain Robert Schneider was adorned in a lab coat made of the same gleaming silver material worn in various styles–shoulder pads included–by the rest of his crew.

The Wet Bandits slosh on through Middlesex Lounge for COOL RANCH

Adam Green Goes…Green on 4/20

4/20 has become synonymous with a few different things: smoking pot, not going to class to smoke pot, taking an extra long lunch break so that you can smoke pot. When Adam Green comes to town, however, 4/20 becomes more related to things like raw grooves, over-sized captain’s hats, torn Garfield shirts, and supreme amounts of sweat. Fenway Recordings brought Green back to Allston’s Great Scott on Tuesday to support the release of his new album Minor Love.

Mystery Roar play Great Scott to Celebrate their Debut EP, Now Out on Dopamine Records

A lot has been written about Mystery Roar lately. There’s even been a lot written about them on this very site. If you’ve read any of it, you probably know that they are heavily influenced by deep disco cuts. That their rhythm section is made of twins. That frontman Nathanael Bluhm is particularly adept at selling raffle tickets. And you can probably tell that, well, we kind of like them.

The Apples in Stereo’s New Album Releases in Time for Middle East Show

Elephant 6 Collective co-originators, The Apples In Stereo, have allegedly returned from the future to release what will be their seventh album, Travellers in Space and Time, out now via Yep Rock, Elephant 6, and Elijah Wood’s Simian Records.
