TPB Raises $3,000 for Partners In Health’s Earthquake Relief Efforts in Haiti

20 January 2010 One Comment

4 days of planning, 3 bands, 2 DJs, 1 sold-out night at Great Scott and a whoooole lot of help from our friends added up to about $3,000 going straight into the pockets of reputable aid organization Partners in Health for use in their earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

We wanted to help in any way we could, so we chose to stick to what we know– parties. We threw a party for charity, and we were overwhelmed by the show of support from our community. From tossing around ideas on a Thursday afternoon, to annoying coffee shop employees on Friday with our late night planning once we graciously got the go ahead from Great Scott, to email threads each 100 messages long (4 of those threads, actually) all weekend, to nervously blowing up balloons on Monday evening during sound check with a line forming outside… we are so thankful. We are thankful to Great Scott for donating their space, to everyone who responded to our frantic, last minute text messages, for Partners In Health for their unending support and enthusiasm, for Ian Sanity and Soul 9 for showing up to paint in a crowded bar with art supplies generously donated by A&C, for the various media outlets who helped promote the event, for Boston Sports Club and The Second Glass for donating bad ass raffle swag, for Keybook, Southern Belle, E-603, The New Collisions and DJ Die Young for spending a night doing what they do best for free, for F.oxy A.ction G.roup for helping us hold the whole thing together and for the hundreds of people who showed up to dance their asses off and hand over some of their hard-earned cash for the good of people so far away, but so desperately in need.

Thank you so much, Boston, for continually validating our extreme love for the city in which we live.

We started off the night with a set from Keybook. (It was their first show and they had the entire room rapt)

F.oxy A.ction G.roup were our Masters of Ceremonies. Consider our ceremonies, um, mastered.

Local digital garage rockers Southern Belle took the stage next and really got the crowd moving.

Meanwhile, art was being created to be raffled off later in the night.

Our talented emcees were remarkably adept at the selling of raffle tickets.

Then E-603 brought the house down.

Raffle time! Winners took home original artwork, a 30-day membership to Boston Sports Club and two pairs of 2 tickets to a wine tasting Crash Course courtesy of the Second Glass.

Representatives from Partners in Health stopped by to talk about the situation in Haiti.

The New Collisions kept the rock going steady with their polished neo-new wave.

And DJ Die Young closed out the night on a high note.
